Inquest on drowned three-year-old visitor completed; bereaved family now awaits post-mortem examination results

The coroner’s inquest has been completed, and the family of the three-year-
old American citizen who reportedly drowned in a swimming pool awaits the
results of a post-mortem examination.

Reports say the process commenced on May 2 at Barnes Funeral Home and
was conducted by Magistrate Dane Hamilton Jr., “touching the death of three-
year-old Zyonandon Collin Hope III.  A set of jurors was also present for the
process.

The child’s body was identified by his aunt, and at the conclusion of the
examination, the inquest was adjourned sine die (without a date).

The three-year-old reportedly drowned in a pool on Sunday, April 28. After
the grim discovery was made, the matter was reported by the child’s
grandfather to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Reports say the child and his mother, a resident of Queens, New York, had
arrived here to spend time with family only two weeks before the tragedy.

Allegedly, the boy had gone to sleep in a bedroom with other family members,
at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, which was the last time his mother saw
him alive.

Reports say that when his mother woke up, after 8 a.m. the following morning,
April 28, she went to check on him. She did not see him and decided to check
the other bedrooms in the house, but he was nowhere to be found.

Reportedly, while making further checks in other areas, she observed that the
kitchen door was wide open and went outside in search of her son.

The little boy was found face down, floating in a swimming pool that is located
on the upper level of a western adjacent building on the property.

She immediately telephoned 911 and commenced CPR until the Emergency
Medical Service (EMS) arrived shortly after, and they continued resuscitation
efforts.

The three-year-old was transported to the hospital, at about 8:37 a.m., with
CPR in progress. Upon arrival at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, the
medical team continued the exercise and even administered epinephrine, but
without success.

It is alleged that the deceased arrived at the hospital with no breathing
sounds, no pulse, and with his pupils fixed and dilated with no corneal
reflexes.  The child was pronounced dead shortly after.
