Five Islands house and contents destroyed in a blaze that fire and police officials suspect was arson

A house fire is under investigation by the Police and Fire Department, as
officers suspect it was the result of arson.

Reports say that a police constable, a Five Islands resident, telephoned the
Grays Farm Police Station and reported that there was a house on fire in Five
Islands.

Officers from the St. John’s Fire Station were deployed to the scene at about
4:21 p.m. and were able to extinguish the inferno.  However, the 20’ x
22’ structure – constructed primarily of wood with a concrete bathroom and a
galvanized roof – and its contents were completely destroyed.

Reports say the property was owned by Annmarie Harrigan of Five Islands.

The house was reportedly unoccupied and had no electricity connected to it.
Accordingly, based on initial investigations, firemen say they suspect arson.
