Searches of Independence Drive homes yield nothing of interest, but Police arrest two men on suspicion of murder outside nightclub

Four men continue to assist the Police with investigations into this week’s
murder of a 24-year-old Yorks Village man.

Sources say the Police have arrested a 32-year-old Independence Drive man
on suspicion of murder and taken him into custody at St. John’s Police Station.

Another man, a 31-year-old Buckleys resident, was taken to the All Saints
Police Station on suspicion of the same murder.

Prior to this, the Police had searched two homes on Thursday, May 16.
Reports say that officers from the Criminal Investigations Department went
on duty in the Camacho’s Avenue area, at about 2:50 p.m., to execute a
warrant on the home of an Independence Drive man, but nothing of interest
was found.

Notwithstanding this, the man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken
to Langfords Police Station.

During the execution of the second warrant, at about 3:30 p.m., officers
searched the home of yet another Independence Drive man, but nothing of
interest was found. However, he, too, was arrested on suspicion of murder
and taken to Langfords.

The Police continue to investigate the death of Kevin Vaccannie, son of the
owner of Asylum Nightclub – formerly the G-Spot Nightclub – on
Independence Drive.

It is alleged that, during what appeared to be a drive-by shooting, Vaccannie
received a single gunshot wound to his right side, in the area of his hip. He was
pronounced dead shortly after at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

The other person injured during the shooting incident has been identified as
Darien Rover, who allegedly received a shot to the abdomen. He underwent
emergency surgery and is recovering at the hospital.

It is alleged that there had been an altercation at the club that involved several
different people, and this escalated into fatal gunfire.
