Church service and Media Day set UPP’s Convention Week off to a good start

A week of activities leading to the United Progressive Party’s (UPP’s)
12th  Biennial Convention began on Sunday, April 14, with a church
service at the Christian Assembly Ministries in Paynters.
The event, which was carried on Progressive FM and streamed on
the MYUPP page, attracted hundreds to the church and thousands

by radio and online, and was very well received, Party officials
report.

As planning continues for the grand event slated for the weekend, a
buzz is building among the general public as the Party moves to
elect a new executive – including a political leader – to run its affairs
for the next two years.

The theme is “Together in Unity: Forward to Victory,” and Public
Relations Officer Damani Tabor says that, during this week and at
the end of the convention, it is hoped that the Party would become
stronger and more unified.

Today, Monday, April 15, was the UPP Media Day, and
representatives were deployed to various media houses and social-
media platforms to share its unique insights and perspectives
regarding the convention, as well as current social issues.

The next outing will be a Karaoke and Games Night at the Barefoot
Bar, Pensioners Beach, on Tuesday night, April 16.
Then, on Wednesday, April 17, the Party will award some of its
stalwarts with certificates of recognition for their years of dedicated
service to the UPP.

On Thursday, April 18, Tabor says, the Party’s younger members will
have their time to shine at an event dubbed “Youth Connect,” at
which a dynamic senator from Jamaica will address the audience.

The official opening ceremony for the convention takes place on
Saturday evening, April 20, with special guest speakers from the
United States, Trinidad & Tobago, and Dominica, Tabor says.

That was UPP Public Relations Officer Damani Tabor.

The week of activities concludes on Sunday, April 21, Convention
Day, with the Party’s business session and the election of the new
executive.
