Three months in prison for Cassada Gardens man who pleads guilty to
battery on police officers

A man who allegedly beat up on police officers is now serving time in prison
for the offence.

Reports say that officers arrested and charged Cassada Gardens resident
Anthony Cornelius, 29, with three counts of battery on police and one count of
resisting arrest.

This incident is alleged to have taken place on April 20 in Gambles.
At the time, reports say Cornelius was behaving in an aggressive manner
towards the officers. After being told he was going to be arrested, he is said to
have put up resistance and fought with the lawmen.

Cornelius was taken before Magistrate Conliffe Clarke in the St. John’s
Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty to all the charges – except for
resisting arrest, which was dismissed by the magistrate.

On the three counts of battery he was convicted and sentenced to three
months at His Majesty Prison.
