Shotgun-toting robbers hit Glanvilles gas station, leaving attendant traumatized

Another daring daylight robbery has taken place, this time at the
West Indies Oil Company service station in Glanvilles.

According to REAL News correspondent George Wehner, the station
was held up at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 24, by two
masked gunmen.

Reports say the alleged robbers, who were clad in black hooded
shirts, exited a silver Honda CRV that was heavily tinted, after
pulling up to the pumps as if to purchase fuel.

Based on reports, Wehner says that one gunman came out of the
vehicle carrying a sawed-off shotgun and robbed the service-station
attendant.

The robbers then escaped in a westerly direction, driving towards
the Collins/Pares areas.

Immediately after, an appeal went out for residents to look out for
the vehicle and to notify law enforcement officials if it was spotted.

Wehner says that no one was injured during the ordeal, which left
the service-station employee traumatized.

Acquisition crimes using firearms have increased over this last year
with, sometimes, two occurring within a 24-hour period.

Critics say that crime is out of control and allege that many incidents
are underreported by the Police. And, they add, Attorney-General
Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin, who is responsible for justice, legal
affairs and public safety, appears unable to put mechanisms in place
to curb the rising crime.

However, he was recently awarded a knighthood – reportedly for
his outstanding job performance.
