Police make no arrests, but appeal for information on Friday- night shooting of visitor in McKinnons

No one has been detained, so far, for the country’s most recent
shooting, which took place on Friday night, February 16, in the
McKinnons area.

The victim, a 48-year-old male visitor to the island, remains
hospitalized.

Reportedly, the man was travelling from north to south along the
McKinnons Road when the assailant – who was in another vehicle –
fired three rounds at his rental car, one of which penetrated from
behind.

The wounded man reportedly managed to drive from that location
to Percival’s Service Station on Fort Road, where he received
assistance.

Persons summoned the Emergency Medical Services  (EMS), which
rushed to the scene and transported the man to the Sir Lester Bird
Medical Centre.

A female passenger escaped unharmed, reports say, but was shaken
by the ordeal.

The shooting reportedly occurred at around 9:25 p.m.
The  Police are  appealing to anyone with information about this
incident to contact the nearest station or the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) at 462-3913 or call the Crimestoppers hotline at
800-TIPS.
