APUA disconnection drive begins today, February 19, so customers with 30 days’ arrears are urged to settle

Consumers owing the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) face
the risk of disconnection if they fail to bring their accounts up to
date right away.

Beginning today, Monday, February 19, the Authority will
commence its disconnection drive, which runs until February 29.
Accounts that are 30 days or more in arrears are at risk for
disconnection.

Accordingly, in its public notice, APUA urges customers to try
settling their accounts for all of the services it provides – electricity,
water, and telecoms (Inet mobile, home and business).

Customers who would like to discuss special payment arrangements
can do so by contacting the Credit Control Department,  the
Authority says.

Bill payment can also be made online on the authority’s Direct
Online Bill Payment Portal at www.apua.ag, or through any of
APUA’s banking or credit union partners.

Meanwhile, APUA promises persons who are disconnected that,
once payment is made, their reconnections will be processed within
one or two business days after.

Residents are grumbling, in the meantime, about the pending hike
on water rates, since that service is erratic, at best, while the poor
quality of the water does not justify the new fees, they say.
The increase becomes effective on March 1.
