ANOTHER COVID – 19 DEATH – THE THIRD IN NINE DAYS

Another COVID-19 death is being reported by the Mount St. John Medical Centre, bringing the official total to 31 fatalities.

On Monday afternoon, a notice from the hospital confirmed that a 76 year-old woman died today, April 12, at 7:40 a.m. The Medical Director says she had underlying health conditions, but had tested positive for the virus.

Commenting on the notice, one irate resident describes the usual qualifying statement of “underlying conditions” as an “attempt at distraction.”

Other persons admit that the increasing number of deaths – three in nine days – is of concern, since the Government is considering reopening a number of social amenities, including bars and gyms, this week.

“I am watching their Labour Day plans,” one man tells REAL News, “because the clergymen allowed them to shut down Easter Sunday with lame excuses. Meanwhile, they want to open wide Labour Day. Is it the last Labour Day?” he asks.

Others say they are not prepared to take the chance on large gatherings of any sort, particularly since – apart from the Prime Minister – residents have not yet received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

One woman was careful to stress that, even after the second jab, persons still have to wait two weeks for inoculation to take effect. Accordingly, she says, “I am going no-way for Labour Day!”
