V.C. Bird International reopened to commercial traffic, with LIAT on modified schedule on Sunday

The V.C. Bird International Airport resumed normal operations after
midday on Sunday, October 22, after a number of LIAT flights had
been cancelled on account of the impending hurricane.

In a public advisory, the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority
announced that the airport would reopen to commercial traffic as of
12 p.m. Sunday, after it had shut down operations on Friday,
October 20, at about 5:30 p.m.

While travelers were encouraged to contact their airlines for
additional flight information, LIAT announced the cancellation of
several of its flights for Sunday and its operation of a modified
schedule.

Accordingly, flights were operated to six destinations, including St.
Vincent; St. Lucia; Barbados; Antigua; Dominica; and St. Kitts, which
ran from mid afternoon to about 9:15 p.m.

Passengers who were affected will be allowed to rebook, with all
change fees waived, LIAT says.

Caribbean Airlines also suspended a number of flights on Sunday
following the passage of the hurricane.
