Simon says a candidate should win on his file and his party’s record and not by buying votes

Kelvin “Shugy” Simon is emphasizing the United Progressive Party’s
threat to take legal action against persons offering bribes and
inducements to influence the outcome of the St. Mary’s South by-
election.

There have been widespread reports of inducements to constituents
ahead of the October 24 by-election, with offers being made by
Prime Minister Gaston Browne, himself, for duty-free concessions.
Accordingly, on Wednesday, October 18, the Party announced that it
is offering a $10,000 reward for credible evidence that could lead to
the prosecution of the perpetrators.

Simon, the UPP candidate, says that he and his team have been
closely monitoring the situation, and some persons have been
strategically positioned to record any incidence of bribery.

He adds that, whether he is victorious at the polls or not, he will be
taking any issue of bribery to court. After all, he says, such practices
should not be part of the country’s politics and they should be
stamped out.

Furher, Simon is warning that he already has video evidence that
will be used to strengthen his case.

According to him, a political party and its candidate should win on
their record – on the developments made in the country and how
the people have benefitted – and not by buying votes.
