Thomas calls on ALP supporters in St. Mary’s South to vote for Simon and reject Browne, the worst prime minister ever

Gaston Browne is the worst prime minister ever to lead Antigua and
Barbuda, says Alister Thomas, the United Progressive Party (UPP)
caretaker for St. John’s City West, and he admonishes Antigua
Labour Party supporters in St. Mary’s South to vote for Kelvin
“Shugy” Simon in the upcoming by-election.

Thomas notes that this country has had four other leaders, and PM
Browne does not hold a candle to any of them. In fact, Thomas says,
no contribution by Browne matches the achievements of any of the
four during their tenure in office.

The current prime minister has failed the people in every respect
and has demonstrated, in every way, that he is unfit to govern,
Thomas asserts.

His conclusion is based on the ongoing water crisis; the poor state of
the economy; the lack of maintenance on government buildings; and
the Browne Administration’s failure to provide relief or a stimulus
during the COVID-19 pandemic – and even now during these
difficult economic times.

The City West caretaker says that Antiguans and Barbudans are
faced only with hardships and suffering under the government
headed by PM Browne.

Therefore, Thomas is making an appeal to St. Mary’s South
constituents – in particular, those who support the Labour Party – to
vote against candidate Dwayne George, who, he says, is just a proxy
for Prime Minister Browne.

Further, he says that Browne’s remark – that he has been the best
leader since Independence – was impertinent, and it belittles the
contributions made by the Father of the Nation, Sir V.C. Bird, Sr., and
other ALP leaders.

Meanwhile, Thomas says the work now underway in St. Mary’s
South, ahead of the October 24 by-election, is a means by which
Browne hopes to get a tighter grip on the people’s necks – by
securing more than a one-seat majority in the Lower House.
