Missing Link candidate Nigel Bascus suffers loss of home and vehicle in Tuesday-morning fire in Villa

The Fire Department and the Police continue to investigate a fire
that completely destroyed the home of political hopeful Nigel
“Missing Link” Bascus of Villa.

Even though firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene, early
Tuesday morning, October 10, Bascus’ uninsured four-bedroom
dwelling house burned to the ground.

Reports say that none of his belongings, including a GPS system and
fishing gear, could be saved. And even his car, which was parked on
the street in front of his home, was burned.

Firefighters had to disconnect electricity service in the area as they
fought the blaze, since it was spreading in the grassy yard.

Reportedly, Bascus had left home about 20 minutes before he was
notified about the inferno.

Earlier this week, the unfortunate fisherman had failed in his bid to
contest the St. Mary’s South by-election as an independent
candidate.

According to reports, Bascus could not muster the 10 people – a
proposer, a seconder and eight assenters – required by law to
nominate him.
