Shoddy election repairs to Darkwood Road show Browne’s contempt for St. Mary’s South, Simon says

Kelvin “Shugy” Simon is decrying the recent attempts of Prime
Minister Gaston Browne and the Labour Party Administration to
deceive the people of St. Mary’s South with sham road repairs.
At present – and after several years have elapsed – the
Administration is seeking to repair the roadway in the area of
Darkwood Beach.

Simon says the last time work was done on that stretch was prior to
the January 18 General Election – when, he says, marl was simply
dumped by order of former MP Samantha Marshall.
He notes that he was then compelled to hire a backhoe to spread the
material, as the people reportedly had been told to do it themselves.

Now, just ahead of a by-election that is mere weeks away, the
Government is moving to repair the road, which Simon says had
been in dire need of attention.

It has taken this upcoming poll for residents in the Orange Valley
area to get some relief from the poor road condition, Simon remarks.

But even now that scalping is being laid on the road’s surface, it is
not being done properly, he charges. The material is not well
compacted, he says, as only two to three hours’ work is being put in.

Simon says this is the gross disrespect that the people of St. Mary’s
South have to contend with under the leadership of PM Browne:
What should have been done 10 years ago is now being rushed –
mere weeks before constituents have to return to the polls.

Simon, the United Progressive Party candidate in the by-election,
says it will take only a heavy shower of rain to expose the shoddy
work that has been done.

This type of gimmick will no longer work, as the people are fed up
with the contempt meted out to them by the Browne
Administration, he says.
