Young woman dies after double-shooting in Green Bay on Monday night; Police appeal to the public for information

The Police are condemning the shooting of two young people – and
the subsequent death of one victim – on Monday night, August 14,
referring to the incident as a “senseless act of violence.”

According to reports from State media that night, a 25-year-old man
from Jennings and a 20-year-old woman from Green Bay Hill were
shot several times in the gun attack, with each sustaining chest
wounds.

The woman has since succumbed to her injuries, becoming the
country’s third homicide for 2023.

At the time of the incident, the Police could not determine how many
shooters had been involved, and a motive for the double-shooting
had not been ascertained.

The violence erupted at about 8:45 p.m. in Green Bay, with both
victims being transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by
the Emergency Medical Services shortly after.

The young woman was pronounced dead at around 11:35 p.m.,
while the male remains hospitalized in a stable condition.
According to the Police, this type of vicious incident will not be
tolerated, and they will be seeking to bring the perpetrator(s) to
justice.

Therefore, they are appealing to anyone with information on this
incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at
462-3913, or Crimestoppers at 800-Tips (8477).

Additionally, the police administration is expressing condolences to
the family of the deceased for their tragic loss.
