Shugy raps Browne Administration’s knuckles over filthy state of the SMS community, noting that it is a popular tourist hub

As political campaigning intensifies in the St. Mary’s South
constituency ahead of the by-election, the United Progressive Party
(UPP) candidate, Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, is calling out the Browne
Administration for the physical state of the community, which is an
acknowledged tourist hub.

Simon notes that the constituency has been neglected; is not being
cleaned as it should be; and the drains have been left virtually
uncleared.

This is unacceptable in an area where several popular hotel
properties are located, and through which tourists have to travel to
get to their destinations, the UPP candidate says. And he notes that a
good first impression is key to ensuring that these visitors return to
the island.

Accordingly, Simon says, he has plans to undertake a beautification
exercise in St. Mary’s South.

Meanwhile, addressing the condition of the gutters and water
courses in the community, Simon says he is holding discussions with
a company to have them cleared – especially since the country is
only in the early part of the hurricane season.
