Season of protest continues with NODS workers’ call for their overtime; Director says he is following up with the Treasury

In the middle of what appears to be Antigua and Barbuda’s protest season, another set of government workers is agitating for money they are owed.

Several workers from the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) telephoned radio stations on Thursday, April 28, calling on the Gaston Browne Administration for their overtime pay.

The Acting Director of NODS, Sherrod James, tells REAL News that he submitted their overtime invoices to the Treasury before the 2022 Budget Presentation.

He confirms that the invoices went in by the deadline dictated by Treasury officials.

Since then, James says, he has been making frequent checks with Ministry of Finance officials; but he has not received any word on when the overtime payments will be made.

So far, NODS workers have not indicated whether they will be downing tools like other government departments.  However, REAL News will be following any such development.
