Watts doubts the truth of Finance Minister’s claim regarding purchase of fire tender

Algernon “Serpent” Watts is asking questions about Finance Minister Gaston Browne’s claim that funds were sent off for the purchase of a fire tender, following the St. George Street fire nearly two weeks ago.

Watts’ concern comes after Fire Chief Elvis Weaver’s recent announcement that he was negotiating with a company in England for the purchase of at least three refurbished fire trucks.

Warts, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. George, says that Browne and his Administration must stop lying to the people of Antigua and Barbuda

Watts notes that, on an annual basis, money is allocated for the purchase of fire trucks —- but none has been bought.  Therefore, he is asking what those funds have been used for, instead.

He believes that families who lost their property as the result of a fire should sue the Government.
