Police officers remove woman to safety after Gender Affairs reports that boyfriend threatened her life

A case of domestic violence is under investigation after the supervisor of the
Referral Centre at the Department of Gender Affairs made a report to the
Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

It is alleged that a 34-year-old woman has been abused over a period of time
by her boyfriend with whom she resides.

Officers visited the home and spoke to the alleged victim, who claimed that
the alleged offender had been beating her for a while now.

It is alleged that, sometime after 9 a.m. on April 15, she was at home with the
man and her five-year-old daughter when they got into an argument.
Allegedly, during the dispute, the boyfriend retrieved a knife, which he placed
to the woman’s throat, and told her that he would kill her.

It is alleged that the man then took the victim’s cellular phone and left the
home.

Officers accompanied the woman to be housed by Gender Affairs for safety
and as a precautionary measure.

An initial search was carried out for the alleged offender, but without success.
