The young man who damaged a glass door at the Digicel Market Street branch over a week ago has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
The Police arrested and charged Dexter George, of no fixed place of abode, for attempting to break into the store on Tuesday, September 13, at about 2 a.m.
George made his first appearance before Magistrate Conliffe Clarke on Thursday, September 22, and pleaded guilty to malicious damage and not guilty to the attempted break-in.
Clarke denied him bail, and George will return to court on October 12 for his trial.
Officers were reportedly on mobile patrol duty in St. John’s when they heard the alarm at the Digicel store going off.
When they went to investigate, they observed that the glass door, valued at $3,000, was shattered, and several pieces of concrete block were outside the door.
Reports are that officers from Special Security Services were able to apprehend the suspect, and George, 22, was handed over to the Police.
