Potter calls out Rural South MP and sports minister, begging for attention to a bathroom and the playing fields

Gladys Potter, the United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker for St.
John’s Rural South, is calling out MP Darryl Matthew for his
neglect of the constituency’s sporting amenities.

Potter is bringing to his attention the unfinished state of the
bathroom at the Golden Grove Extension play field.

“I am calling on the MP for Rural South, who is also the minister of
sports, to complete the bathroom,” Potter says.

Sharing photos of the incomplete facility, she points out that “all it
needs is cleaning and the installation of a door and water. The
toilets are already installed.”

Further, Potter is imploring Minister Matthew “to reinstate the
MOU between the Ministry of Sports and the home team, giving
them the authority to manage, develop and maintain the
recreational facilities.”

She notes that this “contract” was in place under the United
Progressive Party Administration and that it promoted and
facilitated involvement by the community.

At present, however, she says the team’s hands are tied, as the
sportsmen and women wait for the attention of the Sports
Ministry.

This has led to the sad condition the facilities are now in – from
Radio Range to Golden Grove and its Extension and Nut Grove,
where, she says, the fields are in dire need of attention.
