Opposition Leader calls for measures to address the cost of doing business; decline in foreign direct investment seen as a direct result

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle attributed the decline in foreign direct investment to the high cost of doing business in the twin-island- state.

He further questioned whether the increase in foreign currency deposits in Antigua has any trickle-down effects.

The All Saints East and St. Luke representative challenged the government to reveal whether YIDA is responsible for the spike in these deposits.

Given the significant concessions that the investment company received under the Special Economic Zone Agreement, the opposition leader underscored the need for performance clauses to be enforced.
