MP Lewis expresses support for new executive of King George V Restoration Society and its community-development plans

A new executive has been elected to run the affairs of the King
George V Restoration Society, with MP Richard Lewis expressing his
support for the body during its tenure.

Late last week, elections were held to select a new executive board.
The members are: Jason “Mudman” Shaw, president; Freston
Ireland, vice president; treasurer Linita Mack; secretary Taryn
Tiffany Nicholas; and floor members Maxine James, Joseph “Swango”
Mark, and Gwen Salmon.

The two trustees are Rhonie Richards and Reverend Sean Roberts.

Expressing his excitement about the future of the body, Lewis says
he is looking forward to working with the new executive and
pledges his support to its community-development aims and
objectives.

Lewis told the body that its work is extremely important and
emphasized the critical role of sports in providing benefits and
opportunities, especially for youth.

According to Lewis, “Given the current state of affairs with crime, at-
risk youth need this positive outlet more than ever.”

Acknowledging the significance of the society’s stewardship, the
Rural West MP stressed the importance of keeping sporting and
entertainment activities at the grounds at a high standard.

Meanwhile, he noted the upcoming conversion of the Knuckle Block
facility, saying, “There is much work still to be done to move
community sports forward.”

After many delays, the facility – which currently houses the St.
John’s Magistrates’ Court — is to be handed over to serve its original
purpose: the uplift and enrichment of the community, with sports as
a key focus.
