Cruise-ship couple are accosted and robbed, mid-afternoon, on Gordon Street, Villa

Two cruise-ship passengers returning from a day out were robbed
recently while their vessel was docked in the St. John’s Harbour.

Reports say that the couple – natives of Scotland who were traveling
on board the Valiant – went to the Heritage Quay police outpost
and reported that they had been robbed by a young man on Gordon
Street in Villa.

This incident reportedly occurred on February 15 at about 2 p.m.

It is alleged that the pair were heading back to their ship when a
man accosted and attempted to rob them.

However, the Scottish woman refused to relinquish her bag and a
struggle ensued.

The robber then allegedly threatened to kill them, at which time
they surrendered the bag, which contained two bank cards from
their native country; a Chase bank card; a Revalut bank card; and a
United Kingdom driver’s license.

The robber then made good his escape in an easterly direction.

Officers conducted a search of the surrounding areas for the suspect
and the stolen bag but found neither.
