Eric Burton charged with murder of Jamal Ryner and will appear in court on Monday

 *A REAL News Report*

Eric Burton has been charged with murder.

A source tells REAL News that, just after 11 a.m. today, February 17, Burton was arrested and charged with the murder of 22-year-old Yorks Village resident Jamal Ryner.

The 59-year-old man will be taken before the St. John’s Magistrates Court on Monday, February 19, to answer to the capital offence.

Most likely, Burton will be remanded to His Majesty’s Prison, since a magistrate has no jurisdiction to grant bail for offences of this nature.

Ryner was stabbed to death on Tuesday night, February 13, at about 8: 30 p.m., on Rowan Henry Street, in the vicinity of Benjamin Woodworking.

It is alleged that he and Burton were involved in a confrontation, during which a sharp implement was used to inflict the fatal injury to Ryner’s chest.

The young man succumbed at the scene and was pronounced dead by the district doctor.

Reportedly, after the incident, Burton is alleged to have left the scene on a bicycle, but he was picked up the following day at his Villa home.

Ryner is the country’s second homicide victim for 2024.
