‘Sue them,’ deFreitas advises residents affected by poor drainage on Government’s property

The United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker for St. John’s City
South, Franz deFreitas, is advising homeowners affected by water
from the John E. St. Luce Conference Centre to take legal action
against the authorities.

At least three Carnival Gardens homes have been impacted by the
water coming from poor drainage at the centre, creating
waterlogged yards and hampering the affected residents.

DeFreitas says he is not surprised that the relevant authorities have
not done anything meaningful to address the problem affecting the
homeowners.

He thinks that a lawsuit against the ADOMS officials, which is a
statutory corporation, is the right move, and that was his advice to
Evangeline Allen, one of the complaining homeowners.

Reportedly, the building has been taken over from ADOMS by the
Central Government and is now under the management of the
Ministry of Public Works.
