Residents take on road repairs in Crabbe Hill, themselves, after fruitless wait on Public Works

Tired of waiting on the Ministry of Works to come to their
assistance, constituents of St. Mary’s South have taken up tools and
undertaken repairs on a stretch of roadway, thrmselves.

MP Kelvin Simon reports that the potholes on the Crabbe Hill main
road – near the Keyonna Beach property – had gotten so bad, they
had become a hazard to visitors and locals, alike.

Accordingly, with the assistance of Simon, who provided the
materials, several young men from the area took on the job of
packing the holes, mixing cement, and resurfacing the areas that had
been eroded by water and wear and tear.

“This is another example of self-help in a constituency that the
Browne Administration is punishing – because its candidates lost
both the last General Election and the by-election to the UPP,” the
twice-victorious MP says.

“However, we are still calling out the minister of sports and the
minister of works and reminding them that the wrecked playing
field in Bolans is a ‘people’ matter and not a ‘political’ matter,”
Simon states.

That playing field was dug up ahead of the October 24, 2023, by-
election, with a promise by the Administration to erect a spectator
stand.

Since Simon’s win, however, no further work has taken place and
the use of the field remains limited.
