Woman accuses doctor of sexual assault, but Police discount her report, believing she is mentally unstable

A medical practitioner has been accused of committing a sexual
offence against a female patient, a source tells REAL News.
Reportedly, the 32-year-old victim has accused the doctor of
indecent assault.

This offence allegedly occurred almost three weeks ago; however, it
is alleged that, to date, the physician has not been taken to a police
station for questioning.

The offence reportedly occurred on July 27 at the office of the
known doctor, and the woman made a report to the Criminal
Investigations Department (CID).

The source says that officers interviewed the alleged victim and took
a statement from her.

But while inquiries into the incident reportedly are being made,
there is no official record of the report in the police diary, the source
claims.

Another source tells our Newsroom that the Police have reasons to
believe the report is false, since the victim seems not to be of sound
mind.

However, eyebrows are being raised, as persons ask how the Police
can determine the woman’s mental-health status without her first
being examined by a professional.

One resident says the officers should just conduct their
investigations in a fair manner and get the woman the help she
needs –instead of saying she is lying.

And according to a women’s rights advocate, the Police’s response
“is exactly why people with mental-health issues are abused:
because their abusers know that they won’t be believed.”

Meanwhile, the Police recently investigated another indecent assault
that allegedly occurred several hours after.
Reports say that a Browne’s Avenue woman complained to the CID
that her neighbour had come to her residence and removed his
clothes, exposing himself in front of her.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 4 in the morning.

After receiving certain information from the victim, the Police
interviewed the alleged offender, who denied the accusation – but
admitted to having been at the woman’s house.

Yet another sexual offence of serious indecency was reported to the
Police that same day.

Reports say that an adult male took a minor to the Special Victims
Unit (SVU) and reported that she had been sexually assaulted by an
unknown person.

This offence reportedly occurred on July 22 and investigations are
ongoing.
