Distribution of PDV-CAB utility booklets starts next week; seniors advised to eat breakfast or utilize afternoon hours

Next week, the PDV-CAB will begin another round of distribution of
its Senior Citizens Utility Subsidy Booklet, which guarantees Social
Security pensioners $100 off their monthly bills.

Junette Ralph, office administrator at the PDV-CAB, says the
initiative commences on Monday, August 21, from 9 a.m., at the
Multi-Purpose and Exhibition Cultural Centre at Perry Bay.

As is the norm, the distribution of the booklets will be done in
alphabetical order by surnames, Ralph says.

Further, Ralph says, those persons who are collecting multiple
booklets can do so on the last day for collection – Friday, August 25
– instead of visiting the Multi-Purpose Centre every day.
In order to maintain order, the office administrator says, there is a
ticketing system; and she is advising beneficiaries not to camp out at
the centre from midnight, since everyone will be accommodated.

Ralph is also advising that senior citizens have breakfast before
showing up to collect their booklets. This is to prevent them from
falling ill, as has actually happened in the past, she says.

Acknowledging that traffic in the morning hours is normally hectic
and lengthy, Ralph says that seniors who cannot manage the wait
would be better off showing up after 1:30 or 2 p.m. At that time, she
says, the wait is short – about 15 minutes, and not four hours and
more.
