John Jarvis receives instruments of appointment and officially replaces Paddy James as ABEC’s Chairman

John Jarvis, the new Chairman of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC), has officially received his instruments of appointment.

Jarvis was sworn in today, April 6, during a brief ceremony at Government House and replaces Nathaniel “Paddy” James, who has reached retirement age.

In February, the Cabinet indicated that it had already identified James’ replacement; however, the person was not identified at the time.

Jarvis, who had been appointed a commissioner by the Antigua Labour Party, was subsequently announced as the new Chair.

He has been around politics and elections in Antigua and Barbuda, and the region, for several decades.
