Shugy says he will keep a keen eye on SMS voters list, watching out for ALP transfers into the constituency

As the constituency of St. Mary’s South prepares for a by-election,
following the resignation of Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, the former MP
says that a very close eye will be kept on the voters list.

According to Prime Minister Gaston Browne, prior to the January 18
elections, voters were deliberately transferred from St. John’s City
West into other constituencies to help his colleagues at the polls.

To this day, the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC)
and the acting director of public prosecutions  (DPP) have refused to
take any investigative action into Browne’s statement.
Given this knowledge, Simon says he will not allow Samantha
Marshall or the Labour Party to steal the seat by unfair and unlawful
political means.

Accordingly, in order to ensure that the by-election is held on a
clean voters list, he says that keen attention will be paid to transfers
into St. Mary’s South.

Meanwhile, in terms of the ALP buying votes, Simon says he is ready
for the money-train to pass through the constituency, since this is
the usual modus operandi of the Labour Party.

But, according to Simon, the people of St. Mary’s South cannot be
bought, as they demonstrated during the recently held General
Election.
