Bathlodge man may face attempted-murder charge for shooting his ex-girlfriend’s current partner; injury required emergency surgery

A man may face an attempted murder charge for shooting the boyfriend of his
ex-girlfriend.

The incident – in which the victim had to undergo emergency surgery for a
gunshot wound to his neck – was reported to the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) by a Bathlodge woman, the victim’s girlfriend.

The woman allegedly told the Police that the offence had been committed by
her former partner.

This incident is alleged to have occurred at 2:45 p.m., on May 3, at Bathlodge.

Reports say the victim and the attacker – who is also a Bathlodge resident –
were involved in a verbal altercation about the boyfriend’s clothes, which the
alleged offender had taken off the clothesline.

During the dispute, the alleged offender reportedly removed a silver-and-
black firearm from his pants pocket and fired two shots at the victim.  While
one of the bullets missed him, the second bullet struck the victim in the left
side of his neck.

Doctors say it lodged in the right side of his neck under the collarbone, and the
wounded man was rushed into the operating room for emergency surgery.

Reportedly the scene was processed by the Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit,
but no spent shells were found.  Inquiries are ongoing into this matter.
