Advocacy group to stage candlelight vigil against animal abuse and to pressure authorities to enforce protective laws

The local advocacy group Dogs & Cats of Antigua Animal Foundation
will be hosting a candlelight vigil to protest animal abuse in this
country.

The event is set for Friday, March 22, at 5:30 p.m., just outside the
Police Headquarters on American Road, where animal lovers and
advocates will come together to show disgust for the cruelty meted
out to animals.

The aim of the vigil is also to honor the memory of hundreds of
thousands of animals that have tragically lost their lives due to
abuse; being run over by a vehicle; poisoning; and starvation.

The vigil is meant to serve as a call to action, urging the authorities
to enforce animal-welfare laws and prosecute those who wantonly
abuse innocent creatures.

The Foundation wants to see an end to the bad treatment of animals
in its lifetime – hence, this event to pressure the authorities into
enforcement.

Persons interested in the event are encouraged to join in solidarity
and vow to work towards putting an end to animal abuse.

The organizers are hoping the vigil will highlight the importance of
compassion and empathy towards animals, and they invite everyone
to attend and show their support for this crucial cause.
