Customs increases business hours at three locations to accommodate busy Christmas season

With the expected busy Christmas season and the resulting traffic of goods into the Port, the Customs & Excise Division will extend its hours of operation for the month of December, commencing this weekend.

Business hours will be extended at the three Customs Division locations — the Transit Shed & Tariff Section at the Deep-Water Harbour; the Cargo Shed & Tariff Section at Coolidge; and duty-free Heritage Quay.

On Saturdays, operations will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.,starting this Saturday, December 4.

However, on Wednesday, December 22, business hours will be changed to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will remain so until Thursday, December 23.

On Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, the hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

According to Customs officials, after the Christmas holiday, the extended work hours will resume on Wednesday, December 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and continue on Thursday, December 30.

However, on New Year’s Eve – Friday, December 31 – business hours will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

Meanwhile, Port Manger Darwin Telemaque is complaining that the facility is running out of storage space due to quite a number of unclaimed goods.
