Armed bandit assaults Piggots superette owner while accomplice cleans out cash register

Another daring daylight robbery, this one in Piggots, has left the
business owner shaken, as she was assaulted by two armed robbers.
Reports say that a Skerritts Pasture resident, the proprietor of
Jackie’s Superette on the Piggots Main Road, was in her business
place alone on March 8, at about 11:55 a.m., when two masked men
held her at gunpoint.

Further reports say that a man –about 6 feet tall, with a slim build, of
a dark complexion, and wearing a black mask and black gloves, ran
into the shop carrying an orange flare gun.

He immediately made his way behind the counter, where the owner
was, and placed the gun to her forehead, demanding money.

When the woman denied having any, the irate gunman pressed the
gun to her forehead even harder and then pushed her down. She fell
to the ground, hitting her right foot in the process.

Subsequently, another man rushed into the shop and took the cash
register from the counter. He dropped it on the floor, and when it
opened, he removed the cash that was in it.

The duo then made their escape in an easterly direction.
During the incident, a number of shelved items were knocked to the
floor.

The matter was reported to the Parham Police Station and several
officers were deployed to the scene to conduct investigations.
As usual, a search was carried out in the area; but no one fitting the
descriptions was seen.
