MBS relocates three departments and encourages online business, as its refurbishment gets underway

Refurbishment of the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) administrative
building on Nevis Street has commenced and the relocation of some
of its services has been announced.

The pharmacy’s drop off/pick-up office will be relocated to the main
pharmacy on Nevis Street and the cashier and customer-service
functions will be moved to the ground floor of the Healthcare and
Conference Building.

These changes took effect on Friday, March 1.

Further, according to the Scheme, “to ensure convenient
accessibility to cashier and customer service functions, beneficiaries
and employers are encouraged to utilise the Nevis Street drop box
facility and online payment options.”

Additionally, employers may make online payments using Electronic
Funds Transfers (EFTs) via the platforms of the Antigua Commercial
Bank, CIBC Caribbean, and Community First Cooperative Credit
Union.

Employers are asked to submit completed contribution forms and
cheques via the drop box, with the understanding that cash
payments cannot be facilitated via this method.

Beneficiaries can also submit claim receipts via the drop-box, the
MBS says.

On such claims, beneficiaries should include their name, MBS
number, contact number, and preferred payment method on the
receipt.

The Medical Benefits Scheme is apologizing for any inconvenience
this relocation may cause, but did not give an estimate of how long
the refurbishment would take.

Two Saturdays ago, Progressive FM Manager William “Zizi” Thomas
revealed that the Scheme’s main building is infested with mold and
the employees were contemplating industrial action as a result.
