No explanation for patients lying on the floor, but Crump says hospital services are being improved already

Salma Crump, public relations officer for the Sir Lester Bird Medical
Centre, is unable to explain why patients were witnessed lying on
the floor outside the Emergency Room (ER) when there were, at
least, chairs available.

Photos in circulation show two men lying on the tile floor of the ER’s
waiting room, one of them attached to an IV.

This situation garnered public criticism of Health Minister Sir
Molwyn Joseph, with MP Algernon “Serpent ” Watts making a plea
for the serious issues affecting the hospital to be seriously
addressed.

Crump says she could not speak to that particular situation, but
notes that the ER is currently being expanded.

Addressing other matters of concern, Crump says that several of the
hospital services that were suspended – for various reasons – are
now back up and running, including the phlebotomy and MRI
services.

She thanks the public for its patience during the time these services
were not available.

That was Salma Crump, public relations officer for the Sir Lester
Bird Medical Centre.

Meanwhile, Crump says that several departments are also being
outfitted with individual air-conditioning units, since the non-
functioning central system was the cause of many of the services
being suspended.

Now, according to her, the temperature at the medical facility is
getting cooler by the day.

And Crump assures that a chiller will soon be installed at the
hospital, which will cool the entire facility.
