St. George MP disgusted by health minister’s passing of the buck to excuse hospital’s shortcomings

MP Algernon “Serpent” Watts is castigating Minister of Health Sir
Molwyn Joseph and refuting his claims that the Sir Lester Bird
Medical Centre has been functioning poorly because it is without an
operations manual.

Joseph made the statement during a press conference last Tuesday,
February 6.

However, based on information he has received, Watts says that
each department at the country’s sole public hospital has a policy
and procedural manual to guide its operations.

And he is curious to know how, as the minister of health, Sir Molwyn
is not aware of this.

The MP is disgusted that – after 10 years in his position – Sir
Molwyn is seeking to blame the United Progressive Party for the
purported absence of an operating manual and for the alleged lack
of hot water in the operating rooms.

Meanwhile, Watts says the pronouncement of the minister could
have far-reaching implications for the country with regard to certain
international events, such as the upcoming Cricket World Cup
matches and the Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) Conference
in May.

He says that Joseph’s statement could also impact the operations of
the V.C. Bird International Airport.

That was MP Algernon “Serpent” Watts.
