Even out of office, UPP representatives show care for constituents with distribution of food packages

The United Progressive Party’s Parliamentary representatives
continue to demonstrate resilience and determination to serve the
people although they are not in office.

This has been demonstrated time and again by the number of
projects undertaken in their respective constituencies.

In the most recent instance, MP Anthony Smith, Jr. has shown the All
Saints West constituency that he cares by distributing over 250 food
packages to the most vulnerable constituents.

Smith says that navigating the challenges of January – long said to be
“the hardest month” – was not easy, but his commitment to helping
never wavered.

He says he intends to continue his mission of sharing food packages
and making a difference throughout the year, especially since the
increase in the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax  (ABST) has made life
even more difficult for some households.

Meanwhile, the St. John’s Rural West MP, Richard Lewis, executed a
similar initiative and donated over 450 food packages this past
December.

In 2023, Lewis donated school supplies and a water fountain to the
Green Bay and Five Islands Primary Schools.

In addition, he contributed to the community’s summer basketball
camp and to its Mother’s Day and Father’s Day initiatives, and
donated wheelchairs and walkers to physically challenged
constituents.

The UPP is proud of its members, noting that – in spite of limited
access to government resources – the hardworking MPs and
caretakers have found — and will continue to find –creative ways to
leverage community partnerships and serve the people.

According to the UPP, its members believe in “Creative Service” not
“Creative Enrichment,” and it invites residents to imagine what they
will deliver as the next administration.
