Justice for Nigel Christian delayed, as three accused of his murder have pleaded not guilty; trial date should be set in May

Those advocating for justice in the Nigel Christian murder case will
have to wait a bit longer before the men accused of killing him face a
judge and jury.

Although the trio was arraigned on Friday, January 26, they have all
pleaded not guilty to the capital offence. As a result, a case-
management hearing has been set for May 17, and the date for trial
should be determined at that time.

It has been almost four years since Christian, a Customs officer and
principal inspector, was kidnapped and killed.

It is alleged that four men dressed in Army fatigues went
to Christian’s McKinnons home in the afternoon of July 10, 2020;
held his family – including his mother – at gunpoint; and abducted
him. His bullet-riddled body was later found in the Thibou’s area.

In April 2021, the Police charged three men – Saliem “Chuckey”
Harrigan of Greenbay; and Lasean Bully of Cashew Hill; and Wayne
Thomas of Hatton – in connection with the killing.

The fourth man allegedly involved in these crimes has never been
identified – or, apparently, even sought.

The case is expected to be prosecuted by Acting Director of Public
Prosecutions Shannon Jones-Gittens, while attorneys Sherfield
Bowen and Andrew Okola are representing the accused.
