Escaping victim accuses attacker of striking him with a vehicle; police investigating attempted murder

The Police are investigating a case of attempted murder,
reportedly committed with the use of a motor car.

It is alleged that a lower Ottos man reported to the Criminal
Investigations Department (CID) that he had been struck by a
motor car, driven by a Desouza Road man, on that road,

at about 11:45 p.m. on January 16.

Reportedly, the complainant and the alleged offender had gotten
into an argument over money, which caused the Desouza Road
man to use an ice pick to attack the victim.

However, the Ottos resident reportedly managed to escape from
his attacker, who gave chase in a motor car, eventually catching
up with him and striking him with the vehicle.

This reportedly resulted in the victim sustaining a sprained left
ankle and a wound to his left forearm for which he had to seek
treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

On January 17, the victim was seen by CID officers who observed
that he had a bandaged left forearm and a swollen left ankle.
