ABAA advises airport passengers to check-in three hours ahead on homeporting days

Owing to the delays at the V.C. Bird International Airport on
Saturday, November 18, which reportedly affected 800
passengers, new measures are being put in place to prevent any
such recurrences.

The passengers were said to have been delayed by the slow
immigration process, at a time when two cruise ships were docked
here as part of their homeporting initiatives.

Now, the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) has issued
a notice requesting that travelers and other members of the public
take note that homeporting days are extremely busy.

Therefore, the Authority is advising persons travelling on such days
to make every effort to check-in at the airport at least three hours
before departure time.

This is in an effort to avoid possible traffic delays while commuting
to the airport.

The other scheduled days for homeporting, this year, are December
2, 16, and 30.

Following those are two Saturdays – January 13 and 27, 2024 – and
then February 10 and 24, 2024.

Two more dates should follow, culminating with the final exercise
on March 9, 2024.
