Mussington and Frank leave for UK on Thursday and will update Diaspora on Privy Council matter at Leicester meeting

Barbudans residing in the United Kingdom will be updated on the
Barbuda International Airport case set to be heard at the Privy
Council in early November.

The litigants, John Mussington and Jacklyn Frank, will leave Barbuda
for the UK on Thursday, November 2, to fight their case, which has
been going on for about five years.

Mussington says that during a town hall meeting in Leicester,
England, where most Barbudans reside, members of the Diaspora
will be updated on the case and informed about its implications for
Barbudans on a whole.

He says they will also be brought up to date on events now taking
place on the sister-island.

Mussington is again emphasizing that the decision from this case
will have far-reaching implications for other jurisdictions.

He does not agree with the Government’s position that he, as a
private citizen of Barbuda, does not, or should not, have any
“interest” in how the island develops.

According to Mussington, anything that infringes on one’s
environmental health and rights should be a cause for concern, and
it should be challenged by anyone who wishes to challenge the
matter.

In order to challenge the construction of the airport, based on
environmental objections, and take their case to the Privy Council,
the Barbudans have been receiving financial support through a
GoFundMe initiative.

They have also received the backing of a number of international
human-rights organizations.
