St. Mary’s North roads need some of the attention being given to St. Mary’s South, Senator Joseph tells Ministry of Works

Ahead of the October 24 by-election, the Ministry of Works appears
to have taken up residence in St. Mary’s South; but the neighbouring
constituency of St. Mary’s North is being neglected, and its
infrastructure continues to crumble, Senator Johnathan Joseph
laments.

Joseph, the United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker, says the roads
and drains in St. Mary’s North are in a deplorable condition; but its
representative, Sir Molwyn Joseph, is doing nothing to deal with the
situation.

He notes that the condition of the roadways is hard on motorists,
whose vehicles sustain damage due to large potholes in the surface.

He considers it a disgrace that the materials used to repair the
island’s road network actually come out of St. Mary’s North – that is,
the Bendals quarries – and yet that constituency has some of the
worst roads in the country.

Speaking about other issues impacting the constituency, Senator
Joseph says the Bendals Bridge is still compromised and remains a
serious threat to those who have to traverse it.

He says that Sir Molwyn has not been doing the job for which he was
elected; therefore, Prime Minister Gaston Browne should step in
before persons get hurt and the situation in the community worsens.

Meanwhile, since many people are expecting that another by-
election, or a General Election, could be called in less than a year,
Senator Joseph says he continues to campaign in the constituency –
meeting the people and seeing how best he is able to assist them.
