Hackers reportedly wreak havoc on APUA’s billing system, sparking employees’ worry about this week’s payroll

Some employees of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) are
said to be anxious about receiving their pay cheques at the end of
this week since the agency’s computer system has been hacked.

Sources say the billing department, specifically, has been thrown
into disarray, with customers being unable to make their online
payments due to the cyber-attack on the system.

If payments cannot be received, a staff member says, he fears the
Authority might not be in the financial position to meet this week’s
payroll.

Meanwhile, one customer tells our Newsroom that he understands
the Authority’s system was infiltrated by hackers after certain work
was outsourced to an overseas company.

However, REAL News was unable to confirm this allegation up to
press time, but it will continue to investigate and report on this
story.
