Cassada Gardens mechanic shop hit by thieves, who make off with 10 premium-brand car batteries

A mechanic shop was the recent target of thieves, with the perpetrators making off with a number of vehicle items.

Reports say the proprietor of the Cassada Gardens business reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that 10 AC Delco batteries and one muffler had been stolen from his premises.

This offence reportedly occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. on May 8.

Further reports say the intruders entered shop, where persons vehicles were being repaired, and removed the items from the area in which they were being kept.

The business is protected by CCTV cameras, and officers were able to make certain observations after reviewing the footage. Investigations into the incident continue.

The theft of car parts has been on the increase in recent months, with persons going onto other residents’ properties and stripping their vehicles, taking only the parts they want.

One woman recounts that her vehicle had its bumper removed while she was asleep –  although the car was parked next to her bedroom window.  She had been unable to hear the thieves because her electric fan had been on a high setting.
