Port Authority manager denies allegations that tugs and crew are being outsourced to Dominica

Port Manager Darwin Telemaque is refuting allegations that the Port Authority is renting both tugs and crews from Dominica and is promising to detail the true situation next week.

Telemaque says that, contrary to a news story that ran on Monday, May 8, none of the three tugs now stationed at the seaport is owned by a Dominican entity.  One is rented at a very competitive rate, he says, while the other two are simply being accommodated by the Authority, with the understanding that they can be used as needed.

The Port manager is currently out of the country and promises, on his return, to explain the tug arrangement, as well as the challenges facing the Authority as it makes efforts to upscale its operations.

REAL News will report accordingly.
