CARICOM confers the ‘Order of the Caribbean Community,’ its highest honour, on National Hero and cricket icon Sir Viv

Sir Viv, Antigua and Barbuda’s only living National Hero and an international cricket icon, received CARICOM’s highest accolade during the opening ceremony of the 43rd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads, held Sunday, July 3, in Suriname.

The former West Indies captain was among four CARICOM nationals on whom were conferred the Order of the Caribbean Community -OCC.

In his acceptance speech, Sir Viv said he excelled at cricket because he put his all into the sport. However, he adds, his achievements were for people of colour across the globe.
