DPP Anthony Armstrong arrested and charged in Jamaica and will go before the Magistrates Court today, Monday

In a story broken Sunday afternoon, November 6, REAL News reported that Director of Public Prosecutions Anthony Armstrong had been arrested and charged in his native Jamaica, where he reportedly traveled on Sunday, November 6.

Sources in the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Police Force confirmed to our News Room that he was charged with three counts of fraudulent conversion and conspiracy to defraud and was in police custody at the time.

The sources said Armstrong will appear before the Magistrates Court this morning, Monday, November 7, but could not confirm whether the charges are related to an earlier matter in which he was found guilty of misconduct for “witnessing” the signature of a client while the man was in a United States prison.
