Progressive Youth gets ready for activities to celebrate Youth Month locally and mark international Youth Day on August 12

Progressive Youth is getting set to celebrate “Youth Month” with a number of planned activities throughout August.

The programme will focus on youth education, engagement and empowerment. Its activities are meant to create avenues for the youth to contribute their ideas and to participate in discussions about the best solutions for their future.

Among these activities is the commemoration of “International Youth Day” on Friday, August 12.

A youth symposium and a sound-clash edition of De Right Riddim show are some of the main activities their peers can look forward to, Progressive Youth says.

Meanwhile, Johnathan Wehner, President of the United Progressive Party’s youth arm, says his generation has a hunger for something different than what exists.

“The youth fully understand the issues and challenges in our society, because we live them every day,” he says.

As a result, Wehner says this country’s youth must create a meaningful platform from which their voices can be heard, since there are real opportunities for them to make a difference.

The Youth Arm targets persons aged 15-35 from all 16 constituencies throughout Antigua. Their call to action is simple, “Today’s Youth is the Future. Get involved!”
